In May, Branding Latin America travelled to the United Arab Emirates and Europe as part of the inPERU roadshow, with the aim of promoting foreign investment in the country.
Luis Miguel Castilla, the Minister of Economy and Finance, headed the delegation along with the Governor of the Central Bank, the Executive Director of inPERU and the President of the Lima Stock Exchange. The delegation also featured representatives from some of Peru’s most important companies, such as Buenaventura, El Dorado investmetnts, SIGMA and Pesquera Exalmar.
The road show was very successful in promoting awareness of investment opportunities in Peru overseas, and gained much media attention particularly in the Emirates, which was inPERU’s first visit to the Middle East.
The Branding Latin America team went to the Argentine Ambassador’s Polo Cup at the beautiful Cowdray Park Polo ground. Alicia Castro, the Argentine Ambassador to the UK, hosted the event and presented the winning team with the Argentine Ambassador’s Cup.
Guests enjoyed delicious Argentine beef and wine provided by our client Gaucho restaurant whilst enjoying the exciting polo in the sunshine. Also present were stalls selling traditional argentine leather products and clothing and representatives from our client the Argentine Tourist board, promoting tourism and polo opportunities in the country.
Once again Branding Latin America was at Taste of London in Regent’s Park working with Inprotur, the Argentine tourist board. Taste of London showcased the very best of Argentine flavours, with presence from all the top Argentine restaurants in London, which prepared meat and empanadas for visitors to the event. Tour operators Latin Routes, Select Latin America and Llama Travel were also present at the stand, and spoke to visitors about Argentina as a travel destination. Our client Ruta 40 also joined us and served up delicious Argentine wines.
Following a successful first day at the fair BLA held a dinner at Zoilo Restaurant, to which people from UK press and trade enjoyed more delicious Argentine food.
PINTA, the Latin American Modern and Contemporary Art Fair opened in Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre for the 4th year running, and once again Branding Latin America sponsored the most important event in Latin American art in the world. The fair showcased incredible artwork from all over Latin America, which included photography, work on canvas, paintings and sculptures.
Our stand, which we shared with other sponsors Ruta 40, Air Europa and HighLives, proved to be very popular with guests at the event due not only to the delicious wines but also the fantastic art work we exhibited by Chilean artist Francisca Prieto (whose work can be found in Jagged Art gallery in Marylebone) and also a picture of Chilean Patagonia by Argentine photographer Tili de Arizmendi.
Branding Latin America held its annual Breakfast Seminar at the beginning of June, this year at London’s iconic Savoy Hotel.
The morning began with networking between airlines, ground handlers, travel writers and tour operators over a delicious breakfast provided by the hotel, and was then followed by presentations from representatives of Latin American tourist boards, hotels, operators and airlines. Air Europa talked about the recent launch of new routes to Montevideo, as well as their flights to other Latin American cities, Odile Paulstran presented three beautiful hotels from different parts of Chile and Viajes Pacifico did a fantastic presentation on Lima, its food and cultural interests, which even resulted in one member of Veloso Tours winning a trip for 5 days for two with the operator. Incredible destinations such as Argentina, Panama, Uruguay among others were also presented at the seminar.
On Sunday 12th May Argentina was brought to Regent Street for the famous Regent Street Festival. Argentine tourism, food and music were promoted at the annual celebration, which also featured tango dancing by RaquelTango and guitar playing from Ceferino, who came especially to London from the Glaciers in Patagonia. A stand by Gaucho Restaurant served a fantastic selection of Argentine wines, and the best beef sandwiches and empanadas were provided by Porteña. Argentine music maestro Pablo Citarella also provided great piano music, which had the crowds dancing to classic Argentine songs until the end of the day.
The Guildhall hosted this year’s The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, and announced that Lima would be the host city for the 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America. The following day the new Peruvian restaurant Lima, which has just been voted as the Best Restaurant in Peru by the Summum Guide, was the centre of attention. Latin American food lovers gathered with a team of Peruvian chefs including the Godfather Gaston Acurio, Adam and Sanjay from Coya Restaurant, Martin Morales from Ceviche and Lima’s own Virgilio Martinez.
Representatives from PromPeru and the Peruvian Ambassador to the UK were also present to hear the big announcement of the night…that Acurio and Martinez plan to open a joint restaurant in London next year…we can’t wait!
“Cambalache, Two Nights in Argentina”, was held on 17th and 18th April in celebration of World Malbec Day. It was a fantastic celebration of Argentine wine, food and lifestyle brought to Dalston in East London, in association with our client, Wines of Argentina. Argentine food and drink were provided by Bar Galante, Union Ice Cream and Porteña and proved to be very popular with the guests!
The after-party was hosted by our client Ruta 40, the only Argentine Boutique Wines Importer in London, at one of London’s most sophisticated landmarks; Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair. Latin America and wine lovers, business and opinion leaders spent a fun night networking, tasting Ruta 40’s finest wines and exquisite cocktails paired with excellent tapas well into the early hours.
Branding Latin America’s Rodolfo Milesi and Ines Gamarra went to Asia for a week to take part in an Investment Road Show for Proinversion, a private entity that promotes private, foreign investment in Peru. The President of Peru Ollanta Humala also attended the Road Show. BLA organised the PR campaign, which covered Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo, branding one of the most exciting investment destinations in Latin America. Rodolfo and Ines were in charge of supporting Proinverison’s media coverage and organised meetings and conferences with local press. They also made time to visit the local sights such as the Great Wall of China, the Royal Palace in Seoul and get to know exciting Tokyo!
The appointment of the new Pope Francis I (from Argentina) marked another key milestone in the Latin American Decade, and to celebrate the inauguration of His Holiness Branding Latin America Founder Rodolfo Milesi went to the Vatican. Rodolfo oversaw the ceremony which attended mass in St. Peter’s Square. This was a historic event which prompted Branding Latin America to launch BLA News, which gave Rodolfo the opportunity to meet with UK and Latin American journalists, participating in interviews and celebrating the inauguration of the new Pope.
